HORSE SLAUGHTER IS UNETHICAL

Millions of American horses have been slaughtered to serve the interest of a few.
Whether it be to satisfy the tastes of Europeans and Asians
or whether it is to line the pockets of very rich Belgian's; horse slaughter
is unethical.

We teach our horses to trust us and then to some, they are simply disposable. These are sentient beings who experience pain and fear.
Our horses have carried us into battle, taken our children over jumps in the
show ring and they are now helping our Iraq Veterans in therapy programs.

These are just a few examples of how horses have assisted us throughout the years. Is a
frightening and horrific death their reward?

Due to the closing of three Belgium owned horse slaughter plants in the United States, our horses are now being shipped to Mexico to face a horrific death to be served as a
“delicacy” to European and Asian consumers.
The Mexican slaughter plants believe that the more your torture the horse before death, the more tender his or her meat is.

On September 7, 2006, the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act
passed in the U.S. House by a vote of 263-146.
Not scheduled for a vote by the U.S. Senate, this bill died as the 109th Congress adjourned in 2006.
We have another chance in 2007 with H.R. 503 and S. 311 - please call your reps and senators!

Please read this recent aritcle about how our horses are suffering now: http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/metro/stories/MYSA093007.01A.horseslaughter.3496288.html

Please call, email and fax your representatives and senators; ask them to co-sponsor HR 503 and S 311

If you would like to learn more and help with calling and faxing our Senators, please join us at Care2 or email me and I will put you on our mailing list:
